Rhonda & David's Wedding: Avio Winery, Sutter Creek, CA

Rhonda and David's story has a whole lot of history. They actually grew up on the same street, and David was Rhonda's first crush. And she crushed hard! In fact, even though their lives took them in different directions, Rhonda never really got over her feelings for David. For 27 years (yes, 27 years!) Rhonda held up hope that one day they might end up back in each other's lives. Thankfully, through modern technology and social media, Rhonda found herself back in touch with David's sister and things began all over again from there.

David proposed to Rhonda last year and, through all the effort and stress of planning, their day turned out imperfectly perfect! Let me tell you, sometimes things don't go as planned, and when that happens on your wedding day it can be so stressful. Rhonda ran into a few unexpected snags, but with the support of her Maid of Honor/daughter and closest friends, they took everything in stride and kept on smiling. I was really impressed at how everyone stepped up and how Rhonda managed to not let anything spoil her mood on her big day.

Now let's just take a minute to talk about all the pretty details. Rhonda chose a vintage theme with dark purple and bright sparkle to accent. It was the perfect spring day at Avio Winery in Sutter Creek. Between green hills, pink roses, orange twinkle lights, and a golden sunset sky, everywhere you looked had stunning views.

Rhonda and David's wedding day found them surrounded by family and friends who love them dearly and are so happy they've found their ways back to each other. We wish them the best in a long and happy future together!

Justine & Mitch's Wedding: Wedgewood Wedding & Banquet Center, San Ramon, CA

Sometimes when you spend time with a group of people you realize that even though they may not be blood related, they've been through tick and thin together and stood by each other's sides. And when a special day comes for such a group of people, the celebration is going to be big!

Justine and Mitch's wedding day was warm, sunny, and a very grand celebration of love, family, and friendship. Justine chose royal purple with accents of blue as their wedding colors, which popped so crisply against the white. Take a scroll down and you'll see how their style really came through on this beautiful day.

The whole wedding party wore Converse All Stars. Justine had her own pair of personalized blinged-out shoes, although she stuck with her heels most of the night.

The couple's two boys were part of the ceremony, as well.

The boys walked down the aisle, before their mom, accompaained by Mitch's mom.

And justine was accompanied by her father.

Their heart-felt vows had everyone laughing and crying at the same time!

This was such a sweet moment between Justine and her older son Ryden. He really wanted a special picture with mom. Don't they just melt your heart?!

Shannon and I were so glad that Justine & Mitch chose us to capture their special moments and that we got to witness such a wild and wonderful celebration! Wishing this awesome family the best in their future together!

Ellie & Ryan's Wedding: Asilomar State Beach, Pacific Grove, CA

If you asked me for advice on wedding planning from a photographer's perspective, one of my top 3 tips would be to NOT plan an outdoor wedding at high noon. (The sun high in the sky is not ideal for lighting your photos. Feel free to ask more if you're curious.) That being said, Ellie & Ryan's beach wedding at mid-day couldn't have been more beautiful!

The couple planned an intimate ceremony with some of their closest loved ones present, including Ryan's spunky son Sterling, who was an integral part of the day. Besides the unfortunate event of losing a fuzzy caterpillar among the shag carpet in the house they were renting, he was the perfect wingman to his dad on their big day.

(Side note: We're sure the caterpillar escaped to freedom back in the garden to grow it's wings.)

Ellie was missing her family in Italy who couldn't be there with her, but they were on her mind and obviously in her heart. I'm sure they were imaginging what a stunning bride she would be, and in all their wildest dreams, I know for a fact they were right.

I love rings with a little pop of color! Ellie's ring had the perfect color and feel to go along with their light, bright beach wedding. And the yard around the house they were staying at had so much color to add with the ocean in the background.

There was nothing additional needed to make Ellie pop! She looked so stunning in her flowy dress, soft hair, and glowing skin.

Once they were ready, everyone headed across the street to the beach where the wedding ceremony was performed on the rocks just above the sand and crashing waves. Ryan and Sterling admired Ellie as she approached them down the steps.

With the brightest blue sky and the deepest blue-green sea as their backdrop, Ellie and Ryan solidified the union as a family of three.

After the ceremony, Ellie kicked off her heels and we walked down to the beach below for some portraits of the couple.

And of course, more shots with the whole family together.

Sterling's smile just says it all!

With the ocean breeze all around and the sun high in the sky, these two (plus 1) stepped into the future together fueled by love.

Wishing you all many bright sunny days in your lives together!

Danielle & Steve's Wedding: City Hall, San Francisco, CA

We first met Steve and Danielle last spring when Steve asked us to document his proposal to Danielle at Sutro Baths at sunset. They were in town from Seattle and Steve and I coordinated the logistics via email and text. Thankfully Danielle said 'yes', and we were so thrilled when they reached out a few months ago saying that they were going to be back in San Francisco this April and wanted us to document their City Hall wedding. This time, of course, we said yes!

Fast forward to their wedding day, I met Steve and Danielle at The Inn at the Presidio where they were staying along with with their families. We got some portraits there before we headed to City Hall.

Can we just take a second to talk about how gorgeous Danielle looked?! Her dress was perfect on her, and those flowers and her coordinating lipstick just popped off her dress and skin.

One of the cool things about getting married at City Hall is that you can get your marriage license the same day as your ceremony. The ceremonies are quick and then there is plenty of time to enjoy the amazing venue, which we definitely did!

After getting all the shots we wanted inside of City Hall, we headed across the street to the plaza at the Veterans Memorial. Like the gentleman he is, Steve carried his bride acorss the street to give her feet a little break.

I love shots like these, where life is happening all around, but the couple is focused on each other. This shot below makes me smile every time! Check out the school boys passing in the background - especially the one on the right side of the frame running to catch up with his buddies.

And then there were Danielle's flowers again, and her stunning rose gold and diamond ring.

Danielle and Steve are enjoying their honeymoon in Italy now. I hope to continue to keep up with where life takes them, and maybe have another opportunity to photograph them again in the future! Best wishes, you two!

Michael & Collen's Elopement: The Inn on First, Napa, CA

If you've ever had the feeling of marrying your best friend you know it's the greatest feeling in the world. Michael and Collen got to experience that thrill when they came to Napa from thousands of miles away to say their "I-do's" in an intimate ceremony at the cute B & B, The Inn on First.

The morning before heading to Napa for their nuptials, Michael and Collen ran the San Francisco Half Marathon. Now that's a way to start the day! They then checked into their room and got ready for their garden ceremony.

They relaxed on the patio for a few minutes before the inn's co-owner and executive chef James Gunther presided over their ceremony.

We got a few fun portraits in the meantime, too, in the gorgeous garden space.

The ceremony was short and sweet and the couple toasted their union before realxing the evening away and resting their weary legs!

I am honored that Michael and Collen chose me to document their elopement and wish them the best in their lives together.

Roxanne & Nick's Wedding: Boundary Oak Golf Course, Walnut Creek, CA

Roxanne and Nick had originally envisioned a smaller destination wedding, but after deciding that they wanted to include more family, they ended up choosing to get married in their hometown of Walnut Creek. They actually chose a venue that both of them spent time at in their youth, before they even knew each other.

Boundary Oak Golf Course is a beautiful venue overlooking the East Bay Hills, and it was the perfect venue for a larger wedding that included all of their family from far and wide. In addition to including all of their family, they chose to also honor Nick's family's heritage with a Chinese Tea Ceremony before their traditional American ceremony.

Roxanne got to wear 2 gorgeous dresses on her wedding day. First, the red and gold dress she wore for the tea ceremony, then the white dress for the other ceremony. And she wore these amazing Badgley Mischka heels with both dresses.

Roxanne's grandmother, who she was very close to, passed years before her wedding. Roxanne kept her there in spirit by carrying some of her jewelry with her. She also had a special moment with her grandfather before the wedding by pinning a boutonniere on him in commemoration of her grandmother.

Nick arrived shortly after and finished his getting ready by putting on his traditional red and gold suit for the tea ceremony. He had the help of his brother/Best Man.

The Chinese Tea Ceremony is a means of the couple paying respect to their elder family members. Here, Roxanne and Nick serve her parents tea.

Once the tea ceremony was complete, Roxanne changed into her white dress for the next ceremony. Her Maid of Honor helped by pinning a gorgeous pink flower in Roxanne's hair to complete her classic, elegant look.

The ceremony took place overlooking the golf course. The green grass, trees, and surrounding hills couldn't have provided a more stunning backdrop! During the ceremony, Roxanne and Nick's two young boys acted as ring bearers, escorted by Nick's parents.

It is was so special seeing Roxanne and her older son celebrate together after the ceremony!

We then hopped in a couple of golf carts and went to the famous Boundary Oak tree for a few portraits of the wedding couple. We timed it just right before sunset!

Roxanne and Nick put a lot into planning a gorgeous day of celebration with their families. Although it can be stressful putting together all the details for such a grand day, it was so great seeing them finally getting to enjoy the moments with their friends and family that they had planned for so long.

We wish Roxanne and Nick the best as they continue their lives together, and we hope to see them around town!

Danica & Matt's Wedding: Testarossa Winery, Los Gatos, CA

Danica and Matt had an intimate wedding with close family friends at the Testarossa Winery. Their ceremony took place in the wine cave and was preceded by a signing of the traditional Jewish document, the ketubah.

Matt's daughter walked him down the aisle before Danica made her entrance, glowing in her perfectly fitting wedding dress and carrying the most delicate white orchids. She was also carrying what is soon to be the newest member of their family!

The love and tenderness between these two was so sweet to witness.

The ketubah is a traditional Jewish document which documents the rights and responsibilities of the couple in their marriage. This personalized ketubah came all the way from Romania!

Wishing Danica and Matt and their growing family a lifetime of love and joy!

Lauren & Christian's Wedding: Brazilian Room, Berkeley, CA

Lauren & Christian were married as the sun set below the East Bay Hills at the Brazilian Room in Berkeley. The backdrop of tall trees and hills all around made the event so enchanting.

Their families were absolutely giddy to see these two finally tie the knot! You'll notice Christian's adorable mom unable to contain herself as Lauren approached her son coming up the aisle. And it was both of Lauren's parents who accompanied her and gave us the sweetest moment to capture as they smooshed her with kisses.

The reception was filled with cheerful toasts, lots of dancing, and huge smiles all around. And not to mention the homemade cakes and pies that everyone enjoyed and were delectable even just to photograph.

We wish these two so much love, joy, and adventure in the years to come!

Jen & Joe's Wedding: Eagle Vines Vineyard & Golf Course, American Canyon, CA

When Jen contacted me about photographing her wedding, she was so excited about having a husband and wife team document her big day. That's because, in Jen's world, family is always first. She made it very clear that the most important thing to her about captuirng her wedding day was the people they'd be celebrating with. Her daughters were going to be her bridesmaids. Her granddaughter was the sweetest flower girl. And their other friends and family who would be celebrating with them were there because they had been there with Jenn and Joe through thick and thin. They wanted to celebrate their love with the people who mattered the most. And we were so grateful they chose us to capture their day.

Jen and Joe got ready with the help of her beautiful daughters at Vino Bello Resort in Napa.

Before the wedding, Jen had a special gift delivered to Joe, who is a huge sports fan. Check out the awesome baseball boutonniere that Jen had custom made for him! So cool!

They did a first look at the resort before heading to Eagle Vines for their ceremony and reception. The warm yellow walls made such a pretty backdrop.

We stole Jen & Joe away from the reception for a super quick portrait session in the hills above the golf course just before the sun set. In order to get there, we took an unforgettable ride in a golf cart, as the club employee swiftly and dutifully made sure we made it up there before the sun set. We made it just in time!

We then returned to the festivities as Jen & Joe and their guests danced the night away in a huge celebration of love and laughter.

Jen & Joe were surrounded with so much love on their wedding day! It was a joy to capture so many fun and special moments for them as they celebrated with their friends and family. We are so glad they chose us, and we wish them the best in their future together!

Anh & Andrew's Wedding: Swedenborgian Church, San Francisco, CA

Anh & Andrew were married in an intimate ceremony at the most quaint craftsman-style church in San Francisco. The Swedenborgian Church sits on a corner in the Pacific Heights neighborhood behind brick and stucco walls and wrought iron gates.  The inside of the church is warm with rich wood tones and a crackling fireplace. Andrew & Anh made the perfect choice for their intimate affair at this lovely venue.

Isn't she stunning?!

After the ceremony, Anh and Andrew wanted to do portraits at the nearby Palace of Fine Arts, and then we stopped by Crissy Field to get a few shots in the blustery San Francisco summer. Due to the chill factor and the loved ones waiting back at the church to begin the reception, we only did a few quick shots at each location.

There is no denying the connection between these two.

On the way back to the church, we stopped at these steps overlooking the Presidio and the Bay. In true San Francisco form, there was a velvety blanket of white covering much of the area, but it made such a soft backdrop for this sweet couple.

There was no resisting getting some ring shots in the garden back at the church.

And the house on the grounds was the perfect location to get warmed back up as the couple shared their first dance as a married couple, and they smiled the night away with their closest family and friends toasting the new adventures to come in their lives together.

Cheers to Anh and Andrew and all the joy and adventure to come!

Eduardo & Hannah's SF City Hall Wedding

When I asked these two how they met I learned that Eduardo came to The United States from Brazil for two things: 1) his American Dream, and 2) his Dream Girl - particularly Hannah. They were introduced by a mutual friend and began a long distance relationship. Eduardo must be pinching himself because his dreams came true when he moved to California and now he's married to his dream girl.

Before the ceremony, Eduardo and Hannah did their paperwork and met with the judge. It was a little more friendly than the usual government paperwork session.

Their ceremony took place in the Rotunda. What an amazing venue! Eduardo and Hannah tied the knot in a short and sweet ceremony surrounded by their closest family.

It would be hard to find a more grand location for a special event. The sunlight streams in through the large windows all over the building, and the gold details everywhere make you feel like you're in a palace. What a treat for doing some amazing wedding portraits!

These windows are just too glorious to pass by.

Leave it to San Francisco to change your perceptions of a city hall wedding.

Hannah and Eduardo requested a shot crossing the street in front of City Hall. I didn't get what they meant originally with just a 'crossing the street photo' until they mentioned The Beatles. Then I understood the angle they were looking for. It was a fun, lighthearted way to end our shoot.

This wasn't Abbey Road but it wasn't a bad excuse to stop traffic for a few shots either.

Wishing Eduardo & Hannah a lifetime of happiness and love!

Jaquie & Jorge's Wedding

Portraits at Gamble Garden in Palo Alto

Portraits at Gamble Garden in Palo Alto

I have known Jaquie since she was in 10th grade. From a girl with an attitude in high school to a woman who demonstrates a kind heart and loving spirit, it is so wonderful to see what an amazing woman she has become! I'm so glad that Jaquie has found her life partner who loves and appreciates her for all that she is. Jaquie knew the first time she met Jorge that he was the one for her. In this world of chaos and unpredictability, I guess sometimes we just get things right, and Jaquie and Jorge sure did!

It was obvious on their wedding day that part of the strong bond they share comes from their love and closeness with their own families. There were quite a few special elements to their day, not the least of which was Jaquie walking down the aisle and having her first dance with her father who is recovering from a stroke that had him in the hospital and rehabilitation for the past couple of months. They weren't sure what state of health he would be in for the wedding, so sharing those special moments were so meaningful to them.

And while we're talking about family, we have to talk about Jaquie and Jorge's sweet and silly children, Jaylah and Jullian. We did a family photoshoot with them a couple of years back and I just couldn't get over how tender they were with each other. Jullian, the big brother, seemed so protective and caring for his little sister. And Jaylah sure looks up to her bigger brother. Their sweet little personalities are a testament to the good nature of their parents.

Needless to say, Shannon and I felt privileged that Jaquie and Jorge trusted and chose us to capture the special moments on their big day. And that they continue to come back to us to continue to capture their family through time. Guys, we'll be here for your next adventures, which I hope include more adorable babies!...
